UFC signee Bilyal Makhov took first place at last weekend's Ziolkowski & Pytlasinski Poland Open. Due to complications at the Russian nationals, the event was looked at as a sort of de facto Olympic trials. With the victory, Makhov is expected to represent Russian at the upcoming Olympic games in Russia. The wrestler, who took bronze in both freestyle and Greco-Roman at last summer's world championships, is set to join the UFC following the Olympics. In the semifinals, Makhov defeated five-time world champion Khadzhimurat Gatsalov.
