Professional Wrestler Syuri to make MMA debut at Pancrase 277 on UFC Fight Pass

Almost immediately following UFC 197, UFC Fight Pass will broadcast Pancrase 277 live from Differ Ariake in Tokyo. The main features Issei Tamura taking on Juntaro Ushiku for the interim King of Pancrase title. In the co-main, Kazuki Tokudome faces off against Akbarh Arreola in a battle of UFC veterans. A little further down the card, there is an interesting MMA debut.

Syuri is a professional wrestler who has been on the scene for over seven years. She has performed for a variety of promotions in Japan and Mexico such as REINA, Smash and CMLL. Even though she has never fought MMA before, she has built a 13-1 record in kickboxing and Shoot Boxing.  In 2014, Syuri defeated Miku Hayashi for the Krush women’s championship and has successfully defended the belt three times.

At Pancrase 277, Syuri will face off against Kanna Asakura who holds a 3-0 record. In her last fight, Asakura scored a decision victory over Yasuko Tamada at Vale Tudo Japan 7th.

In professional wrestling, Syuri is best known for her rivalry with Kana, who now performs in WWE/NXT as Asuka. For more background check out Shu Hirata’s interview following the Pancrase 277 media work out.
