Joe Warren enters US Olympic Trials Last Chance Qualifier

Update: Despite reports from USA Wrestling, Joe Warren did not compete in the Last Chance Qualifier.

On Friday, former Bellator featherweight champion Joe Warren will attempt to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials at the Last Chance Qualifier. He will enter the 59 KG Greco-Roman tournament and only the champion at each weight will qualify for the trials. You can watch the tournament live at

Towards the end of 2015, Warren returned to his wrestling roots and competed at the 2015 Senior Nationals Qualifier and the 2015 Bill Farrel International Open. He failed to medal in either tournament and collectively went 4-3.

If Warren does take the Last Chance Qualifier title, he will still face an up-hill battle to make the U.S. Olympic Team. The field of qualified wrestlers already includes 2015 World Team memeber Spenser Mango and Junior World medalist Jesse Thielke who defeated Warren at the Senior Nationals Qualifier last year.

Warren wrestled extensively on the international circuit before converting to MMA. He won a Pan American Championship and World Championship in 2006.
